Quality upholstered furniture is made in five stages. First, a frame is built from kiln-dried wood. Next, a spring system goes in for support, followed by layers of foam and padding. After that, the cover is cut, sewn, and fitted. Finally, mechanisms and finishing details are installed and the piece is inspected. The steps themselves are fairly universal, however.
