La-Z-Boy Jasper Recliner Review

La-Z-Boy Jasper Recliner Review

Not every recliner needs to be oversized to be comfortable, and the La-Z-Boy Jasper is a good example of that. The Jasper features flared pillow arms and a stitched pillow-back cushion. That gives it a softer, more tailored look than some of the boxier recliners out there. It still delivers the kind of support that makes a recliner worth owning in the first place.

What Makes the Jasper Comfortable

The Jasper shares the same seven signature comfort features found across much of the La-Z-Boy lineup. Together, they make the chair feel like more than just a place to sit. It reclines and rocks at the same time, so you get gentle motion along with the recline itself. The footrest locks into three positions, and the rocker base locks into sixteen. That gives you real control over the angle instead of just an “up” or “down” setting.

Because comfort also comes down to construction, the Jasper uses a four-sided frame for durability. Its contour-cut foam holds its shape rather than flattening out over time. Add in built-in lower back support, and the chair’s appeal becomes clear. People often end up sitting in it far longer than they planned to.

Dimensions and Who It Fits

The Jasper measures 40 inches wide, 42 inches high, and 38.5 inches deep overall. Its seat measures 21.5 inches wide, 20 inches high, and 20 inches deep. Those more compact proportions are why we generally recommend the Jasper for people between 5’5″ and 5’10”. If that’s your range, our guide to La-Z-Boy recliners for small body types is worth a look. It rounds up a few other models to compare against the Jasper.

Customization and Upgrades

Like most La-Z-Boy recliners, you can build out the Jasper to match how you plan to use it. You can choose manual or power recline, along with standard, elongated, or silver arc handles on either side. One detail that sets the Jasper apart is the base option. In addition to the standard base, you can choose a swivel base. That’s worth considering if the chair will sit near a window or TV you’ll want to turn toward. Cushions come in standard foam or an AirForm memory foam upgrade. Massage and heat functions are also available for anyone who wants a little extra at the end of the day. With more than 900 fabric and leather options, there’s plenty of room to make it match your space. Our La-Z-Boy recliner upgrades guide breaks down what each of these typically adds to the price.

Pricing isn’t listed on the model page, since the final cost depends heavily on the upgrades you choose. Our guide on how much a La-Z-Boy recliner costs walks through what moves that number up or down.

Is the Jasper Right for You?

If you want a recliner that feels tailored rather than bulky, the Jasper is worth a closer look. It also fits a more average-to-smaller frame comfortably. It’s not trying to be the biggest or most feature-packed chair in the lineup. Instead, it aims for a comfortable, well-built recliner that doesn’t overwhelm a smaller room or a smaller person. It largely succeeds.
